PRIVACY POLICY

Privacy Policy

Effective: August 16, 2026 / Last updated: September 3, 2026 / Operator: Independent developer of DAYBREAK CITY

1. Our approach

DAYBREAK CITY is designed to keep your town and daily records on your own device whenever possible.

2. Information stored by the app

The app stores the town state, buildings, roads, game progress, text entered for Today’s Step, and preferences such as display, sound, and notifications in local app storage. This information is not sent to the developer’s server. The app does not use account registration, advertising SDKs, analytics SDKs, or third-party tracking.

3. Backups

You can export and import your town as a JSON file. You choose where to save or share that file, and the developer does not receive it. To protect against an interrupted write, the iOS app keeps the current and previous save generations in an on-device shared container.

4. Widgets and Live Activities

The app stores the town name, city level, population, number of unfinished plans, current priority plan, weekly record totals, and the name and state of an active Today’s Step in an iOS shared container used only by the app and its widget. If you add a Home Screen or Lock Screen widget, or start a Live Activity, the current action name, approximate start or end time, and plan name may also appear on the Lock Screen or Dynamic Island. This information is not sent off your device.

5. Optional notifications

The app uses on-device local notifications for an action's end reminder, a start time you choose, or a selected-app usage threshold you enable. It does not request notification permission on first launch. Notifications and sounds can be changed in Settings; action text is not sent to an external server to deliver them. The app does not use red unread badges, streak reminders, or messages that threaten harm to the town.

6. Optional Screen Time features

Only after you allow Family Controls, Apple’s usage report view can show your most-used apps and daily averages for the last seven days. Readable app names and exact usage times do not leave that report view and are not passed to the main DAYBREAK CITY app, the developer’s server, or JSON backups. To calculate a suggestion, DAYBREAK CITY stores only the highest 15-minute usage band reached by the selected targets for each of up to 14 days in an on-device shared container. It does not include app names, website names, exact usage times, or browsing history. Counts and settings used to compare 5, 8, and 10 second opening pauses also stay on device. Suggestions are never applied automatically. Opening pauses, during-action breaks, combined or per-app daily limits, and scheduled hours have separate settings. Daily limits and scheduled hours can be used together. You can end or change any option without penalty.

7. Deleting data

Start a New Frontier replaces the current town with a new one. The immediately previous safety backup and some device preferences may remain for a short time to protect against an interrupted write. To delete all data stored by DAYBREAK CITY on the device, delete the app from the device. JSON backups exported elsewhere must be deleted by you from their saved location.

8. Features provided by Apple

Apple’s policies and your device settings govern information handled by Apple services such as device backup, the App Store, and optional sharing of crash information.

9. Official website

To deliver the official site and prevent abuse, the hosting provider may temporarily process an IP address, request information, and essential security cookies. The developer does not place advertising, analytics, sign-in, contact forms, or file uploads on the site, and the app does not send your town or Today’s Step data to the site.

10. Support email

If you contact support by email, the developer receives your sender address, message, and any screenshots or JSON files you choose to attach. This information is used only to respond and investigate problems, and is stored in Google Gmail. It is not sold to third parties or used for advertising except where disclosure is required by law. It is kept only as long as needed for support, then deleted when no longer necessary. Screenshots and JSON files may contain town or Today’s Step content, so send only what is needed.

11. Changes to this policy

If cloud sync, a contact form, analytics, advertising, or other external communication is added in the future, this policy and the App Store privacy information will be updated before that feature is introduced.
